Privacy policy
Last updated 14 October 2026.
AskRecruit is a product of Jory Global Limited ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, where they apply, other data protection laws such as the GDPR.
Who is responsible for your data
It depends on who you are:
- Candidates and participants. When an organisation (our customer) invites you to an interview, that organisation decides why and how your answers are used. They are the data controller. We process your data on their behalf, under their instructions and our agreement with them.
- Customers and website visitors. For account, billing and waitlist information, and for this website, Jory Global Limited is the data controller.
If you took part in an interview, the quickest way to exercise your rights is to contact the organisation that invited you. You can also contact us at privacy@useaskrecruit.com and we will help.
What we collect
| Who | Data | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Candidates and participants | Name, email, video and audio recordings, written answers and ratings, transcripts, the time you gave consent, IP address, and basic device and browser details | To run the interview for the organisation that invited you, and to keep a record of your consent |
| Customers | Name, work email, company, role, team members, interviews you create, notes and ratings | To provide your account and the service |
| Customers | Billing details, purchases, credit balance and VAT information. Card details are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store full card numbers | To take payment, keep accounts and meet tax obligations |
| Waitlist and contact | Email, company, intended use and expected volume, and anything you write to us | To tell you when access opens and to reply |
| Everyone | Technical logs such as IP address, pages requested and errors | To keep the service secure and working |
Our lawful bases
- Contract: to provide the service our customers sign up for.
- Consent: candidates agree to being recorded before an interview starts. You can withdraw consent by contacting the organisation that invited you or us; this doesn't affect processing that already happened.
- Legitimate interests: to secure the service, prevent abuse and improve the product, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation: for tax, accounting and lawful requests.
AI features
We use automated tools to transcribe recorded answers and, for subscribing customers, to summarise the tone of answers and help draft questions. These tools assist people; they do not make decisions. AskRecruit never ranks, rejects or shortlists anyone automatically, and every hiring or research decision is made by the customer's team. We do not use interview content to train AI models.
Who we share data with
We never sell personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run AskRecruit, under contracts that require them to protect it:
| Provider | What they do |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and server functions |
| Cloudflare | Website hosting, security and video storage |
| Groq | Transcription and AI summaries |
| Resend | Sending emails such as invites and reminders |
| Paystack | Payments |
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of people and the service.
International transfers
Some of these providers store or process data outside Nigeria, for example in the European Union or the United States. Where that happens, we rely on safeguards recognised under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, such as contractual protections, and we choose providers with strong security practices.
How long we keep data
- Interview recordings and answers: for customers without a subscription, videos are viewable for 60 days, locked for 30 days, then deleted on day 90. For subscribing customers, recordings are kept while the subscription is active, or for the shorter period the customer chooses (6, 12 or 24 months). Customers can delete candidates at any time.
- After cancellation: customers have 30 days to export their data before the standard timeline applies.
- Free test responses: deleted after 7 days.
- Account and billing records: for as long as the account is open, then as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Waitlist details: until access opens or you ask us to remove them.
When a recording is deleted, we keep a small record (candidate name, interview and date) so that links can explain the video no longer exists.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Recordings are stored privately and can only be opened through short-lived secure links by signed-in members of the customer's team. Access within a customer's account is controlled by roles.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict its use, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent. To make a request, email privacy@useaskrecruit.com. If you took part in an interview, we may pass your request to the organisation that invited you, since they control that data. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or your local data protection authority.
Cookies
This website uses only what it needs to work, such as remembering your currency choice in your own browser. We don't use advertising cookies.
Children
AskRecruit is not intended for anyone under 18. Customers must not invite children to interviews.
Changes
If we make important changes, we will update this page and tell customers by email before they take effect.
